Veterinary medicine historical lecture notes, 1943-1961.

Ophthalmology lecture notes (typescript copies), sent to Dr. Myron Fincher, probably used in the New York State College of Veterinary Medicine, undated. Also, two bound sets of lecture notes, presumably owned by the same person because carefully prepared, hand-written notes and diagrams in each document are the work of one person, possibly Dr. Donald Delahanty. One of the sets of notes is labeled on the face page, "Diagnosis of Lameness." Included in this volume are separate sets of notes attributed to J.N. Frost (a professor of surgery at Cornell ), James Farqerson (a veterinary surgeon at Colorado State) and to Gordon Danks, D.V.M. Toward the end of this volume are four pages of notes entitled "Clinical Lecture 10-25-49, Dr. F. Fetlock Lameness." Beyond are notes entitled "3td Managers Short Course" and included are contributions by Col. Sager, and by Drs. McGee, Davis, Proctor, Davidson, Baker, Rooney, Mauer, Drudge, Bryans and Doll. Finally, at the end is a translation of a paper entitled "Dilatation and Torsion of the Cecum in the Ox" by G. Dirksen. Clearly written in pencil in the upper right corner of the translation is "Dr. Delahanty." The second volume contains a spiral bound text book (printed by a printing press). The first page reads GENERAL SURGERY, and the printed text is identical to used in Dr. Danks' surgery course. Numerous hand written notes are present throughout with dates of 2/2/43, 3/4/43, 3/11-16/43, etc. which appear to be the dates the individual who used the text received lectures from Dr. A. G. Danks. A carbon copy of a document entitled "Progress Report on the Use of High Lumbar Epidural Anesthesia in the Bovine" by Thomas Fletcher, May 29, 1961 was found loose between the pages of the Danks' text with a note made using blue ball point pen that reads, "To Dr. Delahanty, In gratitude for your encouragement, Tom Fletcher." Also included with this volume is an 18 page, mimeographed document describing how to cast or otherwise restrain horses and cattle. At the top of the first page of the restraint document is written "Dr. D__."
